The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) has once again shown its commitment to modernizing regulation by creating a Fintech Advisory Committee. On Thursday the inaugural members were released, each of which will serve 1-year terms and advise the OSC on the developments and challenges within the fintech market.
Lendified is proud to announce that one of our executives, Marcel Schroder, has been selected for the committee. Marcel serves as the Executive Director of Vault Circle, a Lendified company, and Canada’s first digital lending investment firm to secure an Exempt Market Dealer license. Vault Circle connects accredited investors with short-term, high-yield small business loans in the form of investor notes. In a statement, Marcel said “I am excited about the opportunity to contribute my experience and perspective to this new advisory committee. We will be supporting the OSC’s LaunchPad initiative and are proud to influence improvements for fintech businesses.”
Members were selected according to their direct business experience with digital platforms, financial services and securities, data science and/or AI (artificial intelligence), cryptocurrency, venture capital, or technology entrepreneurship. Marcel brings extensive financial industry experience and most recently served as the Managing Director and Head of Scotiabank’s International Asset Management division.

Pat Chaukos, the chairwoman of the Fintech Advisory Committee and chief of OSC LaunchPad said, “These individuals have direct business experience with fintech innovation and in-depth knowledge of the issues faced by firms navigating securities law requirements”. The committee will meet quarterly and have the opportunity to support the OSC’s efforts in keeping regulation in step with digital innovation.
