How to Run Your Small Business From Anywhere in the World

lendified-blog-post-default

Whether it’s from your home or on a tropical beach, your small business may offer you the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world. To ensure you stay motivated and your productivity level remains high, we have come up with a few tips and tricks for small business owners and entrepreneurs to keep their business and their career moving on-the-go.

Get Dressed

First things first: get dressed! While this may seem like a small and inconsequential step, it’ll get you in the right mindset to be productive.

Leave the House/Interact with People

Now that you’re dressed, make sure to leave the house or at least interact with people at some point in the day. This can re-energize you. One option is to utilize a co-working space – this is especially useful if you’re a digital nomad; travelling while you work remotely.

Use the Right Tools

Make sure you have the right equipment. This will help you become more efficient at getting your work done. Additionally, you’ll put yourself in a more productive state of mind by making where you work feel like a proper workspace. It is imperative that you have the necessary tools to maintain proper lines of communication, (such as slack channels, clear reception for phone calls and skype, etc.) with your team/clients.

Depending on where you are, you may run into issues if you are in sudden need of a working capital loan, especially if it is in an area where banks and financial advisors are unavailable. Consider using an online lending platform, like Lendified, where you can apply for small business loans from wherever you are and you can get approved as quickly as the same day!

Set a Routine

A routine enables you to separate your work time from your personal time. This doesn’t need to look like standard 9-5 work hours. Choose those hours during which you’re most productive if you’re not constrained by external factors such as client work hours. A flexible work schedule is a great example of the benefits that come with working remotely.

Take Regular Breaks

Whether you build it into your routine or want to play it by ear, make sure you’re taking regular breaks to avoid getting overworked and reducing your productivity.

Use Apps to Avoid Distractions & Enhance Productivity

There are a plethora of applications available that will help you avoid distractions and help to increase your productivity. One big area of procrastination is social media. Apps like Cold Turkey can block your social media access along with other distracting websites for pre-set amounts of time. On the other hand, don’t get carried away by downloading every new app that comes out promising to enhance productivity – this wastes time and your information will get too spread out.

Plan Ahead

If you’re going to be travelling and working from other countries that you’re not familiar with, planning ahead is essential. Find co-working spaces you can work from if you’d like but at the very least definitely make sure you’ll have access to a decent internet connection.

Many people find it useful to spend a longer amount of time in each location, such as a month rather than a few days. This can better help you to stay focused on your projects and fully appreciate each new place you visit.

Learn to Say No

When you have the flexibility that comes with working remotely, it maybe tempting to say yes when people ask you to do things. After all that’s one of the reasons you chose to work remotely. However, learning to say no will mean you don’t overdo it and remain focused on your first priority, which is getting your work done. This can be especially difficult if you’re a digital nomad and there are so many activities and potential distractions at hand. Try traveling with other people who are also working remotely while they travel. These people are in the same boat as you (sometimes literally), and can provide you with support, you can exchange tips and help each other stay on track.

If you approach it in the right way, working remotely can be great! Follow these tips and enjoy the freedom to work from anywhere in the world.
